Mixed Media project

For the mixed media project I chose to do a fanstasy theme. My idea was an "unknown" monster comprised of different animal parts as one hulking creature.
I have never done mixed media so this was a huge challenge on my part. I would say that I would not choose to do a project with mixed media because it is certainly not my strong suit, doing this project seemed to help very little if at all.

Clay project and upclose drawing

For the clay project I was assigned lunch. I chose to make chicken legs and a BoBerry biscuit. I got the idea for this from my dinner I had recently and thought it would work for lunch as well.

Final picture-

For the close up project I chose to draw my tuba mouthpiece. When I started I decided that silver is hard to color so I made it a green plastic mouthpiece. The inside of it turned out worse and alot different than the rest of the picture.

Candy Drawing Assignment

For the candy drawing assignment with oil/chalk pastels I chose a green jolly rancher and a mystery flavor Dum-Dum. I have had little to no experience with pastels, so this assignment was rather difficult to me. Once I finished the jolly rancher I learned some of the techniques that you need to use when using the pastels. The main challenge of the jolly rancher drawing was getting the wrapper to show up just right and the shading in the actual candy.

Final Drawing - (Will add picture in class tomorrow)

For the Dum-Dum assignment I chose the mystery flavor. I felt better about this since I had practice with the jolly rancher. I feel the shading on the wrapper was a ton better than that of the jolly rancher. The colors felt just right and the proportions of the stick and the "pop" were pretty accurate. The only challenge I found was the precision in the lettering and pictures on the wrapper.

Artists Style Project

For the artists style project I was assigned Salvador Dali, a surrealist painter and sculptor. A few of his works had objects melting and trees. I took this idea of his work and applied into my painting. I learned that all his paintings usually had a deep meaning behind them so my painting included something that means alot to me. That thing was marching band, so I took a melting sousaphone(tuba) and had it hang from a tree. The deeper meaning is that band wont last forever but it's not over yet, it's melting away but not entirely.

Perspective Project

For the perspective project I chose to do a drawing of a castle, not a specific castle, just a castle. The castle is made up of a stone-like color/material and includes a wooden drawbridge and a keep in the background. During this project i used familiar tool such as pencil, colored pencil, and rulers. By using familiar tools I have gained more experience with them and learned how to and not to use them.

First Sketch -
In the first sketch I didn't have a background building, road, or grass. My ideas kept coming so I added more to the final and it turned out better.

Final -
In the final as I said, I added much more including banners, grass, dirt road, background building, and shading under the bridge. I also removed the gate and moat to make it feel more open.
